Multi-Sensory
When students are presented with school material through a variety of sensory pathways, learning is greatly enhanced. Many curriculums best fit students who are able to learn easily through focused reading and writing, but other students learn more easily when they use strategies that call upon other senses.
A
Learning
to
Approach
All students may find that their understanding is improved by trying strategies such as:
-
Talking in groups
-
Oral testing
-
Drawing, designing graphs, diagrams, flowcharts
-
Color coding
-
Creating hands-on projects
-
Moving while studying
-
Listening to audio recordings
Exploring these multi-sensory learning strategies helps students cultivate their learning strengths while also developing areas they wish to improve upon.
Together, my students and I discover which strategies are a better fit for their learning style and how to integrate these new ways of learning into their studies.
